Director’s Bio

Stallone Vaiaoga-Ioasa

Stallone Vaiaoga-Ioasa is a New Zealand born Samoan with a strong interest in representation of Pacific people in the media. He worked primarily as a freelance camera operator in television. His debut feature is a case of putting all the resources at his disposal into a film that he believes not only has a strong message about struggling with identity while caught between different worlds, but also most importantly that such stories can be entertaining and uplifting.

His latest comedy entitled Hibiscus & Ruthless came out in January 2018. This time, the focus is on a duo of young women who have been friends since childhood and who have to keep focused when facing numerous male temptations.

SYNOPSIS

Three Wise Cousins, is a self-funded and self-distributed film, from a first time film-maker. It is a comedy that provides an insight into Samoan culture by showing a young man trying to connect with his heritage, albeit for his own personal reasons.

One day, Adam, who happens to be some kind of permanent teenager who seems to be only interested in moving from his bed to the couch and is only passionate about his PlayStation, receives an arrow from Cupid and decides to do everything he can to seduce the young woman of her dreams. However, she only has eyes for real ‘island guys.’ Adam has to leave the comfort of his Auckland suburb to meet up with his two cousins in Samoa. Then begins for him an extremely challenging journey to learn how to live, not to mention survive, according to the local way of life, and to assimilate the practical and philosophical lessons of Mose and Tavita.

The film was a commercial success in New Zealand, Samoan and proved that there was a demand for more Pacific-centric films and that they could be commercially viable whether locally or globally.
