FROM THE SOUTH PACIFIC TO GRENOBLE

France & New Zealand are two countries that are antipodal to each other. For both countries’ inhabitants, this ultimate point of horizon on world maps has long nurtured dreams of the end of the world. These very dreams of distant journeys have drawn their inspiration from the attraction of discovery.

By making distance an asset rather than an obstacle, France & New Zealand have long been able to make the most of this specificity to build a strong and fruitful friendship.

The Association

It is supported by the France/New Zealand Association.

It celebrated its 37th anniversary in 2018. With its 300 members, this association aims to contribute to the development of friendly relations and exchanges between French and New Zealand in all fields. It is only natural that the association supported the project.

Goals

The festival aims at promoting New Zealand culture in various shapes and forms, be they artistic (cinema, literature, poetry, dance, music, song, painting, sculpture, graphic arts, fashion, etc.), sports (reception, invitation, exchanges, assistance for young sports men and women), intellectual (invitation of researchers), economic (partnerships with companies).

Grenoble, an inclusive part of the world

Central and greater Grenoble are particularly well-suited to host this event. In an attractive and innovative territory which looks out to the international market, an original model is being implemented based on close links between universities, companies, laboratories and local authorities.

In addition to that, the agglomeration has developed unique links with New Zealand. Its global research centre, its tourist and sporting attractiveness, the similarity of its mountain landscapes have not failed to beguile a large community of New Zealanders.

Several players from this country plays for Grenoble, which is incidentally the only city in France that has a New Zealand café. Finally, many local companies working in the mountain or snow sector offer their expertise to the Pacific.
