Director, photographer, musician : a well-rounded Māori artist
Himiona Grace is the writer/director of the feature film The Pā Boys (2014) and is co-director of Mai Kapiti, a small video production company based on the Kapiti Coast, New Zealand. With a strong background in writing, music and photography, it was always his goal to merge these skills and become a filmmaker.
He trained in camera, sound and editing at Pacific Films and was fortunate to be mentored by some of New Zealand’s most iconic film makers including Merata Mita, Barry Barclay, Geoff Murphy and writer Graeme Tetley.
Himiona Grace is currently writing a documentary looking at the traditional concepts around ancestral land.
